The WithLovelakehouse is coming along beautifully. It’s slower than than I’d like but such is life. I am having the worst time choosing the finishing details. Why is it so hard?!!! Usually I see what I want so clearly and in this house so many times I’m like ‘Whoa, Instagram, help me and vote!!’ I think it’s that I’ve always had an out before. I always said things like ‘It’s not my forever house…’ This house actually could be, although I’m not sure exactly how we make that work with our life. I have some ideas, so let’s deal with the postings and military life later. For now, this feels like home. Every time I walk into the kitchen I honestly am breathless. The entire kitchen is just gorgeous, and now I don’t want to make Oliver, (handsome contractor), anyway I don’t want Oliver to be all full of himself but OMG the finishing details are insane. I’ll take some close up shots of the trim and floor, the details are just gorgeous!!!
I think the little details are what make your style. Anyone can have a white kitchen, but the color of the wood for the beam, the hardware, textiles. There are so many styles I love that it’s hard to narrow down. I think for me it needs to be able to adapt. Big question, what’s it going to look like at Christmas?? You know how I feel about Christmas!! I think this house is going to be just incredible during the holidays. Pssst do you know how big a tree we can fit?! Huge. I’m talking huge! Not tree through the roof but huge. Remember this one? This was definitely my best tree ever. Maybe I should ask husband if he’ll do it again this year. Hmmmm…
Back to the new house. I went on a little outing to Tonic Living and I bought 5 1/2 yards of gorgeous grey linen. Then about 5 hours later I decided I really wanted to use it for a different project, lol. I let my kids have at it this weekend with the fabric and I think I want something a little more sturdy (which is exactly what @tonicliving told me when I wanted to buy it lol). No problem though, I have an awesome plan for the fabric! Which is great for the next project but what about this one Katie!!!!
These are my new finalists. Definitely a sturdier fabric. More beige (first photo)? Or the second photo, a soft grey, the one the arrow is pointing at.
It’s a good opportunity to introduce a little contrast. What do you guys think? I need different perspectives here, there are no wrong answers. (They’ll both look great at Christmas!) Have a fabulous week.
Disclaimer: Sorry ladies, Oliver has an amazing, gorgeous wife. So sorry. 😘
